picture-157I wantred to write this in praise of Victor Sazer’s book, “New Directions in Cello Playing”.  Very simply put, there are techniques that flat out work when it comes to playing in a tension free manner.  I am in the process of putting these principles into practice so I am in a state of “re-tooling”  My understanding is that Tiger Woods (probably not a great example) went to his old golf coach and totally re-learned his swing.  The result was much to his advantage!

The learning curve of something new and innovative (or not so new, but containing fewer bad habits perhaps) is dependent upon the motiviation of the individual to put new things into practice on a consistant basis.  I am finding that my playing is getting more smooth and relaxed and therefore it sounds better!  Anyone else read the book?  Your thoughts?  Check it out if you haven’t yet!
