Abby Newton creates an intimate and supportive setting for those who want to explore
Celtic music on the cello. Abby is known for combining the soulfulness and energy of
traditional folk music with the precision and nuance of Baroque music.
Cello Retreat: Thursday – Sunday July 25 – 28
Under her careful guidance, participants will enjoy a cello immersion experience,
with plenty of opportunity to hone skills playing by ear, creating back up, individual lessons,
slow jams, a community ceilidh evening, home cooked meals, and outdoor activities in the
spectacular Catskill Mountains of New York. Each cello retreat limited to 8 participants.
Fiddle/Cello Retreat: August 1 – 4, 2013
A special weekend of jamming and classes for fiddle and cello players, with fiddle
taught by Rosie Newton (Ferintosh, Richie Rosie Duo, Pearly Snaps)
