2016 New Directions Cello Festival

The New Directions Cello Festival is a performance and educational forum for non-classical cello, featuring performances, workshops, and jam sessions led by guest artists (and their groups) who are pioneering new directions for cellists in a wide variety of styles. Guest artists include Matt Haimovitz and Uccello, Dave Eggar and Deoro Trio, Ancient Device with cellist Kelly Ellis, Matt Turner and Ashia Grzesik.

2011 New Directions Cello Festival

Took place June 10 – 12, 2011 | Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York

Guest artists included Eugene Friesen with Tim Ray on piano, vocalist Mili Bermejo, and bassist Dan Greenspan, Mike Block, Kevin Fox, Renata Bratt and her New Almaden Trio, and Sera Smolen with Tom Mank and Susan Hoover.

2007 New Directions Cello Festival

The 6th annual New Directions Cello Festival was held Friday through Sunday, June 16-18, 2000 in the brand new facilities at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. UConn was again the scene of the world’s only festival dedicated exclusively to nonclassical and alternative cello.
